how to choreograph led lights

Hi,
I'm setting up an art display that will require 100+ LED lights to be choreographed to a particular sequence which includes switching lights on and off and fading. Any advice on controllers required, programming and set up will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

There are several micro controllers that will do it. The question is how complex are the sequences and must each of the 100 + LED’s be controlled separately? The more LED’s you can group together the less the number of control lines needed, which helps in simplifying the hardware and software design.
