Am I better off buying an expensive headlamp or should I try to build one myself? | |
Hi. I am wanting to get a headlamp for camping/fishing. I have bought a few already that haven't lasted more than a few days. They were all bought for under $20 and were pretty bad quality. Its very confusing trying to differentiate between high quality headlamps. What would you recommend I buy for this use. I dont mind paying top dollar as long as it lasts a long time and is very bright. Of course, batt life, brightness and durability are my main concerns. I have seen some led headlamps from LED LENSER but they are quite expensive and I dont know if these are well made or not. Could someone point me in the right direction? I dont mind making my own but I need the schematics and what sort of LED lamps I should be using. Cheers!

build vs. buy
Do you have circuit, solder and some mechanical skills? Do you have tools and parts? Buying tools, solder, gun and materials can be a waste if you are newbie...

Buy when you find adequate deals, shop around use froogle.com or shopzilla.com for starts & giggles...
